Over the course of it's history, a number of beautiful attractions have been added to Jodhpur which make it a hugely popular tourist destination for people from all over the world. They are famous not just for their architectural beauty but also the glorious past which has made these monuments immortal in the pages of history. No one visiting these places can go away without getting impressed and a bit more curious.
Some of the more famous ones are:
Mehrangarh Fort:
A magnificent example of traditional Rajput architecture, it's situated on a 150 m high hill. It was constructed by Rao Jodha, then chief of Rathore clan in 1459. The fort has a large number of must visit attractions like temples, palaces and museum inside it's premises.
Umaid Bhavan Palace:
It's a beautiful palace constructing in early 20th century by Maharaja Umaid Singh after whom it's named. The palace has been converted in to a heritage hotel and a museum.
Jaswant Thada:
Jaswant Thada is a royal cenotaph made of white marble and lies adjacent to Mehrangarh fort. It commemorates lives of some of the best rulers of Jodhpur and contains some extremely rare portraits of some of them.
